Volunteering and the CMG
How do CMG volunteers make a difference?
Learn about the many ways to volunteer, mentor, and make a difference.
The CMG is an all-volunteer organization. And that means that the more volunteers we get, the more we can do and the easier and more fun it is to do what we want to do! We traditionally ask for volunteers at the end of our three weekend-long Gatherings, but that doesn't mean that we wouldn't welcome a new volunteer at any time of the year. We are a community and there is something going on in our "village" in every season. Just use our toll-free number (877-9-theCMG or 877-984-3264) and you can directly connect to any of our five local event committees and volunteer!
Ways to volunteer for the CMG:
- A Planning Committee plans each weekend-long gathering. There are three yearly Gatherings — Memorial Day weekend (Spring) in Malibu; Labor Day weekend (Summer) in Santa Rosa; and (for the past several years) Thanksgiving weekend (Fall) in Mountain Center and a Planning Committee for each Gathering. Each Planning Committee works for close to a year and they can always use helping hands and smart heads – especially as their Gathering approaches. These committees form soon after each Gathering, but they have sub-committees that need volunteers right up until the Gathering weekend. Being on a Planning Committee is an amazing chance to bond with your fellow committee members and create an experience for hundreds of other CMG men.
- Events Committees plan the many local events and workshops held across the state, as well as the two annual weekends (Harbin Hot Springs and the Spirituality Weekend). CMG has five Events Committees across the state, and the more men who work together on these events committees, the more chances we all have to "gather" between the Gatherings. Just one little idea is all it takes — join an Events Committee and help create our local events.
- Volunteer at a Gathering, Weekend or Event – At every Gathering, Weekend and local event, there are needs for volunteers to help with all types of tasks. Volunteering is one of the best (and easiest) ways to meet new people and make a real difference.
